Pathways To Music
Pathways to Music was a year-long project launched in July 2010 as part of a new partnership with Creative Scotland's Youth Music Initiative (YMI) to encourage more young people to engage, participate and influence Scotland's music scene.
The project used a range of information tools to inform and connect young people with the most up-to-date information and opportunities within all aspects of the music industry, with a particular focus on pathways to employment.
A range of interactive digital technology was used to inspire young people, including how-to-videos, case studies on the Young Scot Extra websites, as well as a platform to influence the music industry through the development of a national survey.
At the end of the project, Young Scot hosted a Pathways To Music Seminar, which gave young people the opportunity to meet music industry professionals and find out their top tips on how to develop a career within the music industry.
As a result of the project:
- Thousands of young people are now better informed on how they can better engage, participate and enjoy the Scottish music scene
- An increase in the number of of opportunities available to them
- Increased awareness of career options within the music industry, through the production of case studies, as well as face-to-face through the sold-out seminar event
