Young Scot works in partnership with schools to help them fulfil the four capacities set out by the Scottish Parliament and with a new Schools Co-ordinator now in post, the strategy is growing from strength to strength.

Young Scot is involved in a variety of projects, read on to find out more…

Young Scot & Glow

Glow is the National intranet for Education with a key aim of encouraging and enabling innovative and unique learning opportunities which will motivate young people to work independently and collaboratively.

Glow provides students, teachers and parents/carers a safe and reliable forum in which they can share and discuss the curriculum/resources learning virtually and collaboratively across the network.

Glow is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) who have worked closely with local authorities to plan and implement the service.

The new service is brilliant but it doesn’t offer any options for informal education. Young Scot plan to create a website that allows students to have a holistic education and teachers to have resources linked to Young Scot and its topics.

The partnership between Young Scot and Glow has just began and plans are in early stages. Glow have granted us their full support to create and design the Young Scot Glow pages.

Young Scot Learning Forum

Young Scot has established an advisory group to help us shape the development Young Scot information materials to support teachers and youth workers, aiming to enhance and build on the existing work already developed within schools and youth groups.  The group will advise on Young Scot materials and share best practice to inform Young Scot’s approach.

The newly formed group of youth workers and teachers will meet three times a year in various locations around Scotland to provide Young Scot with an invaluable insight to help ensure our materials have the potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people
