The Young Scot website has recently been revamped and is now sporting a fresh and funky new design. The national youth information portal, www.youngscot.org used to be our only main online service but times have changed, projects have developed and we've moved fast to tailor our services to suit. We have even recruited a 4-man digital team who focus on ensuring our online services are suitable for young people and recognise new trends. The main website has became an umbrella for all of our projects, sub-sites and new online work. So what are the key features of the portal? - Over 2,500+ pages - Multimedia player on the homepage to host all our podcasts and videos. - Rolling banner to advertise our opportunities and information to young people using less text. - Links to Young Scot ‘Twitter’ - Direct connection to ‘Flickr’ photographs from the homepage. - Crammed full of up-to-the-minute information, useful links, competitions, discussion boards, discounts, music and cinema reviews and much, much more. - The site uses cutting-edge functionality and features 32 'sub sites', one for every local authority in Scotland. - Each local authority site has information written for and by young people, who have been trained in web journalism and how to add articles to the site by Young Scot. - Young Scot has also developed a new SMS and e-mail newsletter system which allows both national and Young Scot Dialogue Youth partners to send and receive text messages and can be used for consultations, competitions and general enquiries.
- Young Scot members can opt-in to receive SMS messages as part of the registration process. Don't forget to visit the website at www.youngscot.org
