Back in 2003, we celebrated our 21st birthday. We've come a long way since then and have achieved a lot of positive changes for young people. But when we first started out, in 1981, all we had was one 60-page booklet. It doesn't sound like much but it was a good start! The very first Young Scot book was distributed to over 100,000 school leavers. Four years later, in association with the Scottish Arts Council, we produced our first discount card and launched the Young Scot Action Fund. By 1987, the Young Scot card offered discounts at 1,000 places in Scotland and thousands more in our first European partner countries. At the same time, the first Young Scot Magazine appeared, as did the European Youth Card. This century, we've not only launched a new Young Scot book but also unveiled www.youngscot.org, which has brought Young Scot to even more young people. From the beginning we have had two guiding principles: to provide young people with access to the highest possible quality of information and give individuals and groups the apparatus to release their potential. Those principals are still in place today and will continue to help us meet the ever changing challenges that the new century brings.
