Young Scot Values

The Young Scot values define what type of organisation we strive to be and play an integral part of the daily working lives of our staff. The staff have monthly meetings to discuss how each directorate is achieving the Young Scot values, check out the examples from July 2009 below.
*

What are the values?

Responsive - We have strong “customer” focus; get the job done, committed to providing reliable quality at all times and placing young people at the heart of everything we do.

Example – Field Services Directorate

“We always ensure that feedback from events and consultations result in Young Scot adapting services to be responsive to the needs and wants of young people”

Passionate - We are positive and ambitious – for young people and for our organisation. We have a “can do” and “will do” attitude, and show leadership in our thoughts and actions.

Example - External Relations Directorate

“The Young Scots Got Talent event at M&Ds Theme Park was great. All the staff got involved and had a very enjoyable experience over that weekend and engaged with a lot of young people.”

Inspirational - We are enthusiastic in our actions, welcoming of people and new opportunities. We communicate effectively with each other and with stakeholders, sharing our passion and integrity.

Example - Strategic Development Directorate

“Attending the recent podcast event in St Katherines Secure Unit in Edinburgh, was a really inspirational experience for me and being part of their celebration of achievement for the young people and launch of Hyper Henry Comic”

Innovative - We embrace change; enjoy meeting new challenges and opportunities head on and work hard to meet the continually evolving needs of young people.

Example – Information Services Directorate

“We have developed a brand new Europe Channel on the InfoLine website to meet the evolving needs of young people.”

Supportive - We value everyone and work as one flexible team. We nurture talent and celebrate success. We deliver everything with integrity and we are proud of our organisation and the work we do.

Example – Admin, Finance and Human Resources

“Some of the team have been busy intercepting the Young Scot NEC application forms for over 16's and validating them to ensure that all applications have been processed correctly. A long and arduous task for anyone, and very supportive.”
